November 21 at 9 a.m. Trail Maintenance
Are your favorite trails getting kind of bushy lately?
Gregg Sasek, the Trails Crew Leader for the Coronado N.F., will discuss the tasks that any of us can perform within the boundaries of sound practices for trail maintenance. This training is required if you would like to perform any trail maintenance while on patrol, including cutting back overgrowth. Information will cover the standards and specs for brush and vegetation removal, trail and rock work, and tool handling. After the session you will sign off that you have received the training and understand the correct procedures and are now authorized to perform tasks on the trail. If you've attended in the past you are most welcome to attend again as a refresher course.
Gregg is also eager to enlist a specialist crew of volunteers to assist him with the heavy maintenance as well, and will explain what that entails.
Continuing Education and Advanced Training are offered exclusively to SCVP members and our partners in the Sabino Canyon Volunteer Naturalists. Please do not invite non-members as seating is limited.
Uniforms are not required, but do wear your name badge. Hours spent attending training can be logged in on the Patrol Plan and count toward your yearly total. Include "CE--Trail Maintenance" in the Comments column.
